Genus Apogon Lacépède, 1801

Introduction

Randall (2005) divided the genus Apogon into a number of genera based on an unpublished PhD thesis, elevating most subgenera recognised by Fraser (1972). Most of the species previously placed in this genus have been moved to Ostorhinchus. Placement of all species follows Mabuchi et al. (2014), with some placements differing from those provided by Randall (2005).
