Introduction

This small greenish yellow species is only known from localities on the eastern half of Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland. It was the first membracid species to be described from Australia with the type material having been collected by Joseph Banks in 1770 when HMS Endeavour was beached for repairs. The species has been misidentified by most workers and its identity was finally correctly established by Day (1999).
