Introduction

This species is only known from the type series (1 ♂, 1♀) from Albany, Western Australia. It was "named in memory of Louis Leichhardt." It is not specified who this person was but it might refer to Ludwig Leichhardt (1813-1848) who explored parts of inland Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: parenchyma feeder.

 

Diagnosis

In size and coloration resembles Aneono venusta Ev. but darker and Cu in fore wing joined with M. Vertex testaceous, on pronotum brown pattern. Smoky pattern on basal 2/3 of fore wing, veins white, basal 2/3 of costal margin and adjoining part of corium red. Abdominal tergites well pigmented. Length ♂ 3.28 mm, ♀ 4.2 mm (Dworakowska 1972).
