Introduction

This species is brilliant red over much of the dorsal surface although the extent can vary intraspecifically. It was originally described from Perth, Western Australia but most subsequent material is from Queensland and New South Wales.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: parenchyma feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Resembling Aneono darwinensis Ev. but bigger, with distinct fuscous patch at tip part of fore wing and male genital apparatus dissimilar. Penis, in comparison with that of A. darwinensis Ev., shorter and more broadened apically with a pair of distinct teeth on dorsal side (Dworakowska 1972).
