  Type species:

   Gobius sphynx Valenciennes, 1837 by original designation.

 

Introduction

The genus is in need of revision. We do not follow Randall (2005), Kovačić, et al. (2018) and Allen & Adrim (2003) in recognising Koumansetta. While Amblygobius hectori and A. rainfordi share several features, recognition of the genus would leave Amblygobius paraphyletic and other genera would need to be recognised.
