Diagnosis

The face of the head is flattened as far as the antennal ledges and the labium terminates between the fore coxae. The anteclypeus is parallel-sided and curved posteriorly and the lora do not extend as far as the margins of the maxillary plates. The antennal ledges are well defined and slightly oblique. The ocelli are situated on the thickened sides of the head. The crown is extensive and flattened and longer in the centre than against the eyes. The pronotum is wide laterally. The tegmina are long and narrow and the cell enclosed by the arms of Cu1 lacks pigmentation. The venation may be normal or additional crossveins may be developed and there may be numerous additional costal veinlets. There may also be numerous small raised spots bearing minute spines on, or close to, the veins. In the wing, Rs and M1+2 are apically fused. There is some degree of sexual dimorphism (Evans 1966).
