Type genus:
Reuteriella Signoret, 1880.
Introduction
The Australasian tribe Reuplemmelini was originally named the Reuterellini, based on the genus Reuteriella Signoret, but Evans (1966) moved Reuteriella to the Hecalini which meant that the tribe needed to change its name; it became the Reuplemmelini. The tribe includes just three genera: the monotypic Reuplemmeles Evans which is widespread and reasonably common in Australia, Aloplemmeles Evans with three species known from their type localities in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, and the monotypic Siderojassus Evans which is endemic to the island of New Guinea.
Diagnosis
Species in the Reuplemmelini resemble those in the genus Batracomorphus Lewis (Batracomorphini) in all significant features, with the exception of ones associated with the shape of the head and the position of the ocelli. In the Reuplemmelini the face of the head is flattened, the crown is extensive and the ocelli are situated on the broad lateral margins of the head (Evans 1966).
Medium-sized green or stramineous leafhoppers; head with crown well delimited and produced; ocelli on crown margin; forewing appendix well developed but not extended around apex; hindwing veins R4+5 andM1+2 confluent distally; male subgenital plates elongate, only partially concealed by pregenital sternite; female first valvulae with dorsal sculpturing strigate; second valvulae with two to three prominent widely spaced dorsal teeth (Krishnankutty et al. 2016).
