Diagnosis

Sturdy brown insects with vitreous tegmina. The pronotum, which is rugose, has raised reticulations on the lateral processes which are short, broad, three-sided and slightly dorsally directed. Viewed dorsally, their anterior margins lie posteriorly to the central part of the pronotum and they extend laterally only slightly beyond the humeral angles. The median pronotal ridge is well-defined and carinate between the lateral arms and the scutellum. The posterior process, anteriorly, is approximately oval in outline and slightly curved downwards posteriorly. It extends apically almost as far as the apices of the folded tegmina. M and Cu1 are basally distinct and there is a wide crossvein, m-cu1, which is closer to the fork of M than to the bases of the two veins (Evans 1966).
