Introduction

This species is endemic to Christmas Island and is most closely related to H. alstoni from Indonesia: Sulawesi.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Head, pronotum and scutellum pale yellow. Forewings with medial spot pale and indistinct. Male genitalia with stem of connective elongate, equal in length to arms; aedeagus with shafts expanded apically into short anteriorly directed triangular lobe and a dorsally directed finger-like process, gonopore subapical on posterior surface. Length ♂ 3.32 mm, ♀ 3.92 mm (Knight 1970).
