Introduction

This semi-brachypterous species has been found in coastal areas of SE Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. Its pale greenish colour differs from the colouring of other known species of Horouta.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Closely allied to L. catalina but the head is distinctly longer and the tegmina only reach to the base of the genital segment. Head, pronotum and scutellum pale yellowish, the frons with a pale ferruginous radiating pattern. Tegmina pale olive-green, the veins a little yellow, a broad smoky apical band. Abdomen black, the last segment white, pygophor white and black. Legs yellowish brown soiled with fuscous.Length 1 7/8 mm. (Kirkaldy 1907).

Pale testaceous except for frontoclypeus brown with lateral pale striping, gena sometimes brown around bases of antennae and brown occipital suture extending to level with front of eyes. Tegmen subbrachypterous, about twice as long as broad, reaching to 10th abdominal segment, testaceous hyaline on basal half, thence hyaline to subapical smoky brown band and whitish apical margin. Male genitalia: aedeagus with only one pair of basal processes. (Fletcher 2004).
