Introduction

Frequently treated as a synonym of Histiobranchus bathybius (Günther 1877) by earlier authors, a species now considered to be restricted to the northern hemisphere (see Mundy 2005:129 and Karmovskaya & Merrett 1998).

Extra Distribution Information

Off Broken Bay, NSW (33°40'S, 151°56'E), Huon Marine Reserve south of Bruny Island, TAS (44°40'S, 147°32'E) to Great Australian Bight SE of Eucla (34°36'S 130°17'E) and possibly further west; temperate, southern circumglobal and NE Atlantic (Azores).
