Generic Combinations

 

Introduction

This species is based on brachypterous females from the wet tropics of North Queensland. It is almost certainly not a true Megamelus. Zimmerman (1948) suggested that it could be a species of Tarophagus but did not formally transfer the species.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Short winged form: closely allied to the last [kaha Kirkaldy] but tegmina dark fuscous subapically, apically opaque, margins ivory-white, broken in places by the dark tint. Median keel of frons and clypeus ivory-white. Tergites dark fuscous, medianly white. Length 2 1/3 mm. (Kirkaldy 1907).
