Introduction

This species is bright green in life and appears to be associated with higher altitudes than other species of the genus although it may reflect a preference for cooler conditions since the Tasmanian records are coastal. The species may also have an association with Leptospermum (Myrtaceae) species since they have been collected from this genus in both the New England region of New South Wales and in Tasmania.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder (associated flora: Leptospermum scoparium J.R.Forst. & G.Forst. [MYRTACEAE] Manuka).

 

Diagnosis

Lora yellow testaceous. Anteclypeus black to pale brown with dark apical half. Frons pale testaceous with dark brown transverse striped pattern. Crown yellow brown with apical spots well developed. Pronotum and scutellum greenish yellow. Tegmina greenish hyaline, apical cells smoky brown. Face and crown with distinct shagreen texture. Lora convex, overlapping anteclypeus laterally. Frons convex. Crown smooth, with slight depression on each side near hind margin. Ocelli on apical margin adjacent to frontoclypeal sutures which extend short distance onto crown. Pronotum smooth to shagreen on anterior half, punctate with indistinct transverse striations on posterior half. Scutellum shagreen. Tegmen with vein CuA1 very short, either indistinct apically or united with M3+4 closer to base than apex of apical cells. Tegmen with four apical cells (Fletcher & Condello 1994).

Fletcher & Condello (1994) also described and figured the male genitalia.
