Genus Kybos Fieber, 1866

Compiler and date details

21 February 2012 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

This genus was placed as a subgenus of Empoasca Walsh by Horvàth (1897) but resurrected as a genus in its own right by DeLong (1931) although not all subsequent authors have followed this. Kybos is a northern Hemisphere genus with a single species introduced to Australia on species of birch, Betula L. (Betulaceae) and two species introduced to New Zealand. The Australian distribution is probably wider than is currently recorded. The European fauna, which includes the species found in Australia, was revised by Mühlethaler, et al. (2009).
