Holotype MNHP (fixed by monotypy), type locality unknown (tentatively given by Kuwert as Batchian, i.e. Bacan Island, Indonesia).

Notes
Corporaal (1950) lists New Guinea and Australia against Phaeocyclotomus orbatus without explanation. The occurrence of this species in Australia requires confirmation.
