Tribe Clerini Latreille, 1802
Introduction
Bartlett (2021) proposed the concept of the clerine supertribe Cleritae to accommodate the genera of the newly established Clerini Latreille, 1802 and Hydnocerini Spinola, 1844 (the latter including former Hydnocerinae and Anthicoclerinae) after paraphyly of Clerinae in relation to a separate Hydnocerinae was demonstrated by Gunter et al. (2013) and Gimmel et al. (2019).
Clerini Latreille, 1802 consists of the formal tribe Clerina, more-or-less equivalent to the informal ‘Clerus series’ (Gerstemier 2002) plus the ‘Tillicera-group’ (Gerstmeier & Stapel 2016), plus the informal ‘Perilypus genus-group’ (Bartlett 2021), the latter containing no Australian taxa.
Five genera are included here under the subtribe Clerina.
