• Rentzia Day, M.F. 1999. The genera of Australian Membracidae (Hemiptera : Auchenorrhyncha). Invertebrate Taxonomy 13: 629-747 [703].

  Type species:

   Rentzia yarla Day, 1999 by original designation.

 

Introduction

This small endemic genus of two species is restricted to coastal Queensland. The etymology was given as "The genus is named for Dr D.F.C. Rentz [presumably Dr D.C.F. Rentz], collector of this and other interesting membracids."

Diagnosis

Large, robust, markedly setose. Gena almost straight. Lateral pronotal processes short but conspicuous, directed upwards. Crossvein m–cu2 absent. Clypeal lobes horizontal. Metopidium sloping, higher than broad (Day 1999).
