  Type data:

   Holotype QM T123827 ♂ (coll: 23.x.2000, S. Wright, 300 m, mv light, brigalow), 5 km SW of Mt Robert, Queensland [21°24'S 148°27'E].

Introduction

This species is based on a series of specimens from the brigalow belt of Queensland. One specimen has been collected on Wahlenbergia (Campanulaceae).

Ecological Descriptors

Adult: phloem feeder.

Extra Ecological Information

Nymph might be phloem feeder or fungivore.

Diagnosis

Colour. Body mid to dark brown, carinae and clypeus paler, frons lateral with a white mark; legs mid brown; forewing hyaline colourless with brown marks along crossveins, veins dark brown, tubercles concolorous with veins, pterostigma dark brown; abdominal sternites dark brown. Morphology. Body length: ♂ 7.5–7.7 mm, ♀ 8.0–9.3 mm. Head: Vertex (total length) 1.5–1.9 times longer than wide; basal emargination acutely angled or rectangular. Postclypeus with well-developed (rarely evanescent) median carina. Rostrum surpassing hind coxae. Thorax: Hind margin of pronotum obtusely angled. Mesonotum with well-developed carinae. Forewing 3.0–3.1 times longer than wide; costa with 21–33 tubercles; 9 apical cells. Male genitalia: Aedeagus: Phallotheca with a rounded spine left lateral; a rounded spine pointing upwards (caudad) right lateral; a large, flattened, bifurcated spine dorsal, shaped like antlers of male elk; and a large, rounded ventral ridge. Flagellum partly sclerotised with a long spine. (Löcker et.al. 2006)
