Diagnosis

Carapace xanthoid in shape, not particularly broadened; dorsal surface convex, regions strongly marked. Anterolateral margins convex, rounded, or more or less strongly crested; typically with four lobes or broad teeth behind exorbital angle, but may be entire or lobes marked merely by slight indentations or narrow fissures; distinctly separated from concave posterolateral margins. Front weakly bilobed, with or without marginal crest; with ventral prolongation meeting short basal antennal article. Antennules fold transversely. Chelipeds subequal, similar; with a more or less developed carina on superior margin of palm. Walking legs with anterior margins crested, particularly on carpus and propodus.
