Introduction

Webb (1983) indicated that this species runs to Zaletta in his key to species but suggested that it represented an undescribed genus. The type series comprises only females, making it difficult to determine its identity with confidence. The type series was collected in Sydney, New South Wales.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Form of [Balocha] xantho. Head, pronotum, scutellum and underside pale yellowish often suffused with rosy. Tegmina pale yellowish testaceous suffused with rosy, veins rosy; subcostal cell, apical cells, apex of subapical cells and appendix, hyaline. Length 3 mm. (Kirkaldy 1907).

In addition to distinctive second valvulae, this species can be distinguished by its small size (3 mm) and forewings tinged with pale scarlet (Webb 1983).
