Introduction

This is the largest and palest of the Australian species of Xestocephalus. It has been found in NE New South Wales as well as Herberton, N. Queensland, the type locality.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

General coloration pale yellowish brown. Head pale brown, each eye equal in width to half the total width of the crown. Pronotum brownish yellow, sometimes with three dark markings posteriorly. Scutellum yellowish brown without markings. Tegmen pale hyaline brownish yellow with dark brown markings; these may be arranged as a pattern of ovals or be confined to the margin of the tegmen. Length ♀ 4.8 mm (Evans 1966).
