Introduction

This species has long been known in Australia as Acanthopagrus latus. Iwatsuki (2013) separated that formerly recognised species into multiple species, with this species restricted to Australia.

Extra Distribution Information

Shark Bay, WA (26º10'S) to Weipa, QLD (141º36'S), distribution in freshwater not well documented; tropical, Indo-west Pacific.

Australian Endemic.
