- Wabua Davies, V.T. in Davies, V.T. & Lambkin, C.L. 2000. Wabua, a new spider genus (Araneae: Amaurobioidea: Kababininae) from north Queensland, Australia. Memoirs of the Queensland Museum 46: 129-147 [130].
Type species:
Wabua major Davies, 2000 by original designation.
Introduction
The cribellate genus Wabua comprises eleven species from rainforests between Innisfail and Mackay, eastern Queensland. Little is known of the spiders’ biology, except they appear to be litter dwellers. Wabua is one of four genera comprising the subfamily Kababininae (Davies 1999). Although unplaced at the family level by Davies & Lambkin (2000), Wabua was listed in the Amphinectidae until 2008, along with other genera in the clade. The subfamily was transferred to Stiphidiidae by Gray and Smith (2008).
