Introduction
This taxon is a species-complex currently under review (pers. comm. Karina Hall May 2023). It is listed as Uroteuthis (Photololigo) 'edulis' (Hoyle, 1885) (species-complex) in Reid (2016). However, it is currently being described as a distinct 'chinensis-like' species. Uroteuthis (Photololigo) edulis (Hoyle, 1885) does not occur in Australian waters. Note that the images on p. 55 of Reid (2016) are not Uroteuthis (Photololigo) 'edulis', but are
