Extra Distribution Information
ex cultured Tridacna gigas from Orpheus and Fitzroy Islands (Great Barrier Reef, Australia); ex wild Tridacna maxima from Heron Island. Urastoma cyprinae has been previously recorded from Europe, Canada, USA and Brazil and is known to be free-living or in association with lamellibranch bivalves (especially Crassostrea virginica. The record by Goggin & Cannon (1989) was the first account of this species from Australian waters and the first record of this turbellarian from species of Tridacna.
