Tribe Ugyopini Fennah, 1979

Compiler and date details

26 November 2010 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

The Asiracinae was divided into two tribes by Fennah (1979) in a half page paper which provided brief diagnoses and a list of genera in each tribe. The two known Australian genera at that time, Notuchus Fennah and Ugyops Guérin-Méneville, were both placed in the tribe Ugyopini. Two further Australian genera, Kiambrana and Notuchoides were added to the tribe by Donaldson (1988). The Australian Ugyopini has links to New Caledonia.

Diagnosis

Genae without an oblique carina between antennal socket and frontoclypeal suture near its junction with lateral margin of frons. Rostrum attaining or surpassing post-trochanters. Macropterous form with subapical cell reaching to about apical third of tegmen; apex of clavus subtruncate or thickened, and usually followed by a transverse flexure line. (Fennah 1979)
