Species Typhlodromus haramotoi Prasad, 1968

Introduction

The literature records of this species are confused. The species that is present in Australia is was originally described as Typhlodromus haramotoi Prasad, 1968a, page 1370, and is catalogued by de Moraes et al. (2004) as Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) haramotoi, their catalogue number 1951. It was recorded from Queensland by Schicha & McMurtry (1986), Schicha (1987), Walter (1992, 1997) and Waite & Gerson (1994). Denmark & Evans (2011) recorded this species from Australia as Amblydromella (Amblydromella) haramotoi, their catalogue number 333.

It should not be confused with Euseius haramotoi, which was originally described as Amblyseius haramotoi Prasad, 1968b, page 1517, and is recorded in de Moraes et al. (2004) under their catalogue number 0407. This species was incorrectly recorded from Australia by de Moraes et al. (2004). This incorrect record was repeated by Denmark & Evans (2011), as Euseius haramotoi, their catalogue number 71. Euseius haramotoi has not been recorded from Australia.
