Syntype(s) BMNH 2♂ adults (male labelled `cotype' has terminalia mount; E.N. Marks examined the cotype male of Tripteroides papua and concluded it was conspecifc with filipes sensu Lee, therefore papua was placed as a synonym of filipes, see Lee, D.J., Hicks, M.M., Griffiths, M., Debenham, M.L., Marks, E.N., Bryan, J.H. & Russell, R.C. 1989. Adult common biting in jungle; most larvae recorded from the pitchers of Nepenthes spp. [Nepenthaceae] but also found in rot holes in trees, tree holes, plant axils, bamboos, in Colocasia sp. [Araceae] and in pure culture in bamboos; larvae have been reported to kill other mosquito larvae.
