Diagnosis

Species in this genus have been diagnosed and described in relation to the type species T. simulatus. Thraxan species are very similar to each other in external morphological characters. Reliable characters to separate species have been found only in the male genitalia. Females have been associated with these males when pairs have been collected in copula. We cannot reliably associate females with males in eight species: T. simulatus, T. depressus, T. emicatus, T. hamulus, T. nodus, T. obstipus, T. planus and T. spiculus.
