Comment: Both sexes are represented in the type series. Evans (1981) listed the type as being from Sydney and, if only one syntype from Sydney can be shown to have existed, may have designated that specimen as lectotype by default.

Introduction
This species, which is only known from the Sydney basin of New South Wales, was synonymised with Tartessus iambe Kirkaldy by Evans (1966) but Evans (1981) resurrected the species and placed T. iambe into a different genus.

All stages: phloem feeder.
Diagnosis
Allied to T. iambe [= Alotartessus iambe (Kirkaldy)]. Pale yellowish brown, scutellum often tinged with ferruginous. Second subapical cell extending apically beyond the others. Crossveins on brachial and in subcostal fairly straight. Male: sterna and sternites somewhat fuscate; face almost immaculate; genital segments not unlike those of T. subniger [= Brunotartessus fulvus (Walker)]. Females. Frons with a submedian pale fuscous longitudinal line with transverse striae. Sterna and sternites pale; last sternite produced, apically acute-angled, pygophor elongate with yellowish-brown bristles. Length 7 mm. (Kirkaldy 1907).
