Family TRIAENOPHORIDAE Lönnberg, 1889
Introduction
Triaenophorid cestodes exhibit the principal characteristics of pseudophyllideans but the genital pores are marginal. The uterine pore remains ventral and median. Vitelline follicles are scattered. These parasites are found in the intestine of marine and freshwater teleosts (Bray et al. 1994).
The Australian fauna is extrememely poorly known. The two recognised species occur as intestinal parasites of cosmopolitan pelagic teleosts.
