Introduction
Kallies (2020, p51) states:
"This species was named based on a single male collected at Toowomba, south-eastern Queensland. The holotype and the genitalia were described and figured in detail by Duckworth & Eichlin (1974) who assigned this species to the new-world genus Carmenta Edwards, 1881. Kallies (2001) transferred this species provisionally to Ichneumenoptera Hampson, [1893]. However, examination of the type species of the genus, Ichneumenoptera auripes Hampson, [1893] has shown that the Australian Synanthedonini, including this species, do not belong to this genus. Based on the morphology of the male genitalia, the species is here transferred to Synanthedon Hübner, [1819], which is the oldest available name for the group and currently serves as a basket for Synanthedonini that cannot be assigned to other genera."
