Ecological Descriptors

Deep water, marine (host(s): Hermit crab).

 

Diagnosis

Column smooth, light pink or yellow. Length on shortest side 15-30 mm, longest side 25-65 mm. oral disc flat, to 55 mm diameter. Fosse shallow. Actinopharynx shallowly ribbed, with two siphonoglyphs. Endodermal sphincter well-developed, circumscribed, with mesogloeal shaft (thick in most) from which arise pinnately arrayed lamellae that may tend to a reticular pattern; ovoid to deltoid in cross section. Mesenteries thin, no stomata seen. 5 or 6 cycles of mesenteries, at least first two orders complete. Retractor muscles moderately well developed, diffuse. Mesenteries of two highest orders fertile, sexes presumably separate.
