Introduction

Strangesta gawleri is distinguished by the coarse radial ribs on the upper shell surface and relatively globose whorls. The species' taxonomic status within the genus is doubtful (Stanisic, pers. comm.).

Open heath, predator, woodland.

 

Diagnosis

Shell medium to large, reddish brown, subglobose, with elevated low dome-shaped spire; protoconch smooth, teleoconch with very prominent coarse radial ribs above; umbilicus narrow, V-shaped; diameter up to 24mm.
