Introduction
Strangesta confusa is distinguished from Briansmithia jackstirlingi by the combination of radially ribbed protoconch (smooth in the latter), flatter shell and larger size. Uncommon.

Diagnosis
Shell very large, deep reddish-brown to yellow, subdiscoidal with a low-domed spire, last whorl very inflated; protoconch with low, curved radial ridges, teleoconch sculpture of numerous, closely spaced radial ribs and very weak, discontinuous spiral striae toward the end of the body whorl; umbilicus wide, V-shaped; diameter 40.5mm.
