Diagnosis

Pedal disc wide, sometimes conical in middle. Mesogloea of column thick or thin, depending on contraction. Sphincter in smaller specimens alveolar, in larger specimens alveolo-reticular to almost reticular, sometimes almost stratified. Tentacles up to about 70. More mesenteries at base compared to tentacles. Actinopharynx with longitudinal ridges and siphonoglyphs with aboral prolongations. 16 pairs of perfect and sterile mesenteries. Pennons diffuse, parietobasilar muscles broad. Embryos developing in coelenteron.
