Introduction

Hoffmann et al. (2021) question whether there are more than one extant species in the genus Spirula. Their geometric morphometric data suggest there are two species in the genus however, noting there are conflicting lines of evidence between molecular and morphological analyses, they do not formally describe a new species. Further study is required to confirm the work of Hoffmann et al. (2021)
