Type species:
Smicrotatodelphax perkinsi Kirkaldy, 1906 by monotypy.
Introduction
This was an endemic monotypic genus until Muir (1917) added a second species from Java. Muir (1917) made the comment that these two species were the smallest delphacids he knew, reaching a total body length of only 1.3 mm and Kirkaldy (1906) noted that S. perkinsi was the smallest planthopper known to him.

Antennae reaching beyond base of clypeus. Pronotum tricarinate, the lateral keels straight, diverging posteriorly, but practically reaching the posterior margin of pronotum. Scutellum transverse, with 3 somewhat obscure keels. Tegmina not nearly reaching apical margin of abdomen, rounded apically. Tibial spur with about 13 teeth. (Kirkaldy 1906)
