Introduction

Semilaoma costata is distinguished from S. lidgbirdensis and S. laevis by the combination of flatter shape, coarser sculpture and comparatively widely open umbilicus. Common and widespread.

Diagnosis

Shell minute, pale yellow to white, subdiscoidal with a low to flat spire and bluntly angular whorls; protoconch with fine spiral lirae, teleoconch sculpture of irregular, closely spaced radial ribs and fine spiral lirae; umbilicus moderately open; diameter 1.6mm.
