Hard bottom, marine, sessile.
Systematics
Hickson (1921: 366) originally assigned his Adelaide specimen to Sarcodictyon catanata Forbes, and later (1930: 210) proposed S. herdmani n.sp. for the same sample. Nevertheless, the species is not a true Sarcodictyon and the correct identity is unknown.
