Family STRONGYLOPHTHALMYIIDAE Hennig, 1940
Introduction
The genus Strongylophthalmyis was previously assigned to family Tanypezidae, but now is accorded its own family, Strongylophthalmyiidae. Thus the family Tanypezidae is excluded from Australia.
"Unpublished records report the collection of Strongylophthalmyia from Alocasia leaves in Australia …" (Lonsdale 2013).
