Introduction
The family Stegostomatidae comprise a single genus and species, Stegostoma fasciatum, known as the Zebra Shark (Compagno et al. 2005; Last & Stevens 2009). It is found on the continental shelf throughout the tropical Indo-west Pacific, including Australia. Maximum size is just over 3 m. The family was separated from the Orectolobidae by Compagno (1973, 1984, 2001).
