Family SPHAEROCHTHONIIDAE Grandjean, 1947
- Sphaerochthoniidae Grandjean, F. 1947. Les Enarthronota (Acariens). Première série. Annales des Sciences Naturelles, Zoologie 11 8: 213-248.
Introduction
The family Sphaerochthoniidae includes two genera and 21 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011; Subias 2011). The Australian Sphaerochthoniidae are poorly known, with only a single known species, which is cosmopolitan, and which was collected under Eucalyptus in South Australia (Colloff & Halliday 1998). Unidentified species of Sphaerochthonius have been recorded from Australia a number of times, and unidentified Sphaerochthoniidae were also reported by Adolphson & Kinnear (2008).
