Family SALTISEIIDAE Walter, 2000
Introduction
The Saltiseiidae is an endemic Australian family containing a single species, which was collected from rotting logs and tree holes in rainforest in Queensland (Walter 2000), and from a second undescribed species. The described species, Saltiseius hunteri, was easily cultured in the laboratory on a diet of nematodes, and has been collected on a passalid beetle. It has a well-developed ability to jump, apparently as a means of avoiding predators.
