Introduction

This brightly coloured species has been found in a broad swathe of eastern Australia from SE Queensland to western Victoria with two females from Yanchep in the Swan Valley of Western Australia also placed here by Webb (1983).

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

This species is closely related to R. cuprea (Walker) but differs in its generally smaller size (♂ 4.6–4.8 mm; ♀ 5.0–5.5 mm) and in having the pronotum of the female orangey brown to scarlet rather than yellowish. The male genitalia are also similar to those of R. cuprea but the processes from the anterior margin of the aedeagus are rounded and upturned apically (Webb 1983).
