Introduction

This species was described, in abbreviated but nonetheless valid, format by Melichar (1898a) and the type locality was given as "Cap York". Melichar (1898b) provided descriptions of the same new species in more detail and provided more detail of the type material, particularly how many specimens, what sex they were and where they were deposited.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Gleichfalls eine kleine Ricania-Art, welche insbesondere durch die flache, fast quadratisch geformte, grob gerunzelte Stirne, dunkelbraune Flügeldecken, rauchbraune Flügel und die dunkeln Schenkel der hellen Beine gekenntzeichnet ist. Der R. proxima und fuscula ähnlich letztere jedoch durch die Flügeldeckenform leicht zu erkennen. Länger des Körpers 5–6 mm, Spannweite der Flügeldecken 13–18 mm (Melichar 1898a).
