Cicada ulmi Linnaeus, 1758 by original designation.
Introduction
This genus was first recorded in Australia by Fletcher & Williams (1987). It is widespread in the Nearctic and Palaearctic regions with 15 species, one of which has been introduced on European elm trees, Ulmus spp (Ulmaceae) to Australia.

Diagnosis
The only Australian representative of this genus can be distinguished from the only other Typhlocybini species in Australia by colour, Ribautiana ulmi (L.) being green and restricted to elms, Ulmus spp. (Ulmaceae). The other species is yellow and feeds on pome fruit (Rosaceae).
