Subfamily Rhopalophthalminae Hansen, 1910
Introduction
The Rhopalophthalminae are a small subfamily comprising one genus and about 17 species (Price et al. 2001). Three species are known from Australian waters. Müller (1993) and Price et al. (2001) catalogued the family.
Diagnosis
Rostrum obtuse. Antenna 2 scale outer margin smooth, without setae. Labrum symmetrical. Mandible lacinia mobilis well developed, left mandible spine row absent or reduced to a single spine (supporting a single thick seta on right mandible), molar process well developed. 3rd pair biramous. Female pleopods uniramous or greatly reduced. Uropod endopod with distal articulation; exopod with distal articulation. (Generated from Meland 2002)
