Introduction

This species was described from a single female specimen from the wet tropics of far North Queensland despite the presence of numerous other specimens, including males, in Australian collections. A re-examination of the species is required to differentiate a second known, but undescribed, species from SE Queensland and northern New South Wales and to provide details of the male genitalia of both.

Diagnosis

Of the Achilini, three genera contain species which are primarily green in colour - Anabunda (three species), Epiona (one species) and Rhinochloris (two species, one of which is undescribed). Species of Rhinochloris are immediately recognisable by the presence of three or four spines on the hind tibiae while the other two have just a single spine. R. acutirostris is distinctive in the anterior prolongation of the head which is coloured green dorsally but brown with pale spots laterally and ventrally.
