Introduction

This yellowish brown species has a fairly restricted distribution from SE Queensland to the New South Wales north coast. The species was "named in honour of Dr E.F. Riek, collector of the holotype, in recognition of his contribution to Australian entomology." Dr Riek was also a significant mentor and inspiration for the compiler.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Transcephalic stripe absent. Aedeagal shaft divided from midsection into two arms, anterior arm longer, acute, posterior arm bearing a ventrally directed bifurcating process. Second valvulae moderately narrow, serrate region divided into coarsely serrate (distal) and finely serrate (proximal) areas (Stevens 1994)
